Holy shit! For many years we have been waiting for the moment and nothing happens, then you turn your head and all of a sudden two states in the US legalize cannabis! WTF?!? Of course in some states it is already prohibited to smoke marijuana for medicinal use but now in both Colorado and Washington voters have managed to get the majority to vote for legalization. I would say that after more than 75 years of bullshit around this wonderful plant, this is a historical moment …. I am speechless. Growing and selling will be regulated, people over 21 will be able to buy up to one ounce of weed at a shop and you will allowed to grow up to 6 plants for personal use... Wait a minute….  fuck me sideways and call me Nancy… one ounce??  That is about 28 grams! While here in Amsterdam we are allowed to buy only up to 5 grams!  That is if this new weed-pass system is not going to go in effect in Amsterdam.

The weed pass... Most of you probably heard about it already. The weed pass is a legal monstrosity that has been in operation since may 1st 2012 in the South of Holland. Because of the introduction of the weed pass it was impossible for foreigners to visit the coffeeshops over there. The intention was that the weed pass would be introduced on January 1st 2013 throughout Holland (including Amsterdam). However, it became very clear that since the introduction a couple of months ago different cities in the south had a lot of problems with nuisance and crime, all thanks to the weed pass. You see, Dutch people can not take the weed pass. You having to register as a cannabis user? Fuck off... the Dutch say.

Barack Obama doesn’t really deny he has smoked in his previous life, while Bill Clinton says he ‘didn’t inhale’. But a few days ago Martin Lindner, aGerman politician of the pro-business Free Democrats in parliament, showed the world he at least has some real balls and took a drag of a joint on live television!

When turning on the TV you constantly see people smoking weed in TV series and movies. It happens more and more, at least to me. But it seems that almost every time cannabis and pot smokers are being put in a bad light. Even funny movies starring Harold and Kumar or TV series like Two and a Half Men make smokers look dumb. But while watching many re-runs of one of my favorite TV series, Family Guy, I have to conclude I really love Seth MacFarlane.

Finally! A Drug Policy Commission that thinks straight. In the UK an independent advisory committee has advised the government to focus on damage limitation rather than the banning of drugs. They have compared taking drugs to eating junk food and gambling. As eating junk food can be more damaging than smoking a joint, it is a logical thought of course, but it’s nice to see that some officials think the same. Eating filthy hamburgers is not a crime right? So why would smoking a joint be?
