After my last post about Bryan Lewis Saunders, I came across another artist inspired by drugs. This time it is the artist Fernando de la Rocque, a Brazilian artist that made a series of images entitled "Blow Job", using smoke to create very beautiful images of religious and political icons. Although paintings made with smoke have been done before and artists like Rob Tarbell and Jim Dingilian have made astonishing works using smoke, Fernando de la Rocque uses only the smoke of marijuana! Fernando lays down pre-cutted stencils on white canvas and then blows cannabis smoke over the stencils to dye paint and create impressive images.

I guess we all know I like to smoke weed. And sure, I have also experimented in with various other mind blowing goodies my days. But I came across Bryan Lewis Saunders, an artist who took this experimenting a interesting step further. This dude has been doing a project where he paints a self portrait everyday for more than 16 years already and then came with a ‘genius’ idea; painting a self portrait everyday while being on a different drug every day. One might think it is a crazy idea and another might think it’s a great idea, but I must say that the outcome I saw is really beautiful.

In the run to new election in The Netherlands owners of Dutch coffeeshops have decided to go political in order to save the nation from losing its right to freely smoke cannabis. As you have heard from us and many other sources the Dutch government has got some seriously ridiculous plans regarding the drug laws in The Netherlands; Foreigners are no longer welcome in the coffeeshops in the South of the country and the Dutch citizens need to be registered to be able to obtain a pass which will grand them access to the shops. If nothing changes the law will go nationwide and also Amsterdam will be a victim of this new law. Last weekend was the start of a campaign funded by 140 Dutch coffeeshops to convince the nation to vote for pro-cannabis parties.
