Angel Raich Kicked Out Of Hospital For Smoking Medicinal Marijuana.

Angel Raich

Do you remember Angel Raich? She is the famous activist who took the Federal Government to court in 2004 and 2005 and now in 2012 is dying from a brain tumor. Well, UCSF, a hospital in the States that researches the efficiency of Marijuana in pain-relief, has decided to kick Angel Raich out of their facility for smoking Marijuana last Monday when she was at UCSF for some tests and a doctor or some pharmacist walked in on her smoking a vaporizer. We are wondering if the hospitals management has lost their minds or where they pretty high on something themselves?

Doctors recently have diagnosed Angel Raich with radiation necrosis, a complication from radiotherapy. Combined with her inoperable terminal brain tumor, this basically means that she is dying as we speak.  The only thing that helps to control her seizures and pain is Cannabis…   Nice way to treat your patients UCSF! WTF…

Here is a video of Angel Raich giving an interview to NBC just after being kicked out of the hospital and just before having a serious seizure and being brought to a different hospital.

Your comment makes perfect sense until you realize that she wasn't smoking her prescribed medical cannabis, she was VAPORIZING her prescribed medical cannabis.

Furthermore, guess which university hospital conducted studies on the safety of vaporized vs. smoked cannabis & found the former to be free of toxic substances (e.g., carbon monoxide, carcinogens, etc.)?

If you guessed UCSF, you're right.

Too bad the doctors & staff of UCSF apparently don't read or give much credence to studies conducted by their UCSF colleagues.

Although I am definitely pro legalization when it comes to marijuana in general and even more so for medical use, I can see why somebody would get kicked out of a hospital for smoking it indoors there. It's disruptive to the other patients who may not want to be exposed to it. It would be a bit like a hemorrhoid patient busting out their ointment in the waiting room, dropping their pants and applying it in front of everyone or somebody lighting up a huge cigar. It's just something that many of the other patients are likely to find highly offensive. She could have munched an edible, smoked it her car before going in or even just stepped out into the little smoking area they have for tobacco addicts to get her dose.

The article doesn't go into much detail, but this would be a little different if the woman had been stuck in the hospital for hours and denied an opportunity to step out and smoke when she felt she needed it.
