At the IC 420 Growers and Breeders Cup you will see cannabis that has been grown all over the world by many different growers, not just weed that is commercially available in Holland, because the competition is open for entry to anyone on the planet who keeps the cannabis culture alive, so long as they grew the entry themselves.
So this Cup is all about the weed and those that grow it. Coffeeshops are a small part of this competition but are judged not only upon the quality and variety of ganja they supply, but also ambience, cleanliness, decor and the services their staff deliver to customers.
The IC 420 started out as a initiative of Gypsy Nirvana. The very first one, held in 2003 was actually a small gathering ending up on Self-Hemployed's Daytripper.
In 2004 Gypsy Nirvana came out with the first International Cannagraphic. The first 'official' cup was held in the Fat City.
The IC 420 Growers and Breeders Cup had a peak in 2004 and 2005. The one in 2006 was cancelled, but the ones in 2008 and 2007 gathered the breeders, judges and smokers to this cannabis event.
There are also quite a few interesting events going on in and around the event. Also an exposition of various businesses at the venue during the day gives everybody a chance to mingle, network and shop with others involved within this blooming industry.
During the 2004 and 2005 events, there were available many leisure activities you can do in Amsterdam like 420 boat traveling, garden tours at the Cannabis College, the 420 Smokeout, and more educational activities such as growing seminars hosted by several growing legends as well as seminars on grow room set-up/design and security.
At the IC 420 Growers Cup breeders like Soma, GreenHouse, Karma Genetics, Magus Genetics, Mosca Negra, Reservoir Seeds, Kiwi Seeds, Motavation, Reeferman, Homegrown FantaSeeds and others surprise the visitors and judges with their latest discoveries.
