The Heineken Music Hall, built in 2001, is a music hall which is built with one thing in mind only: the acoustics must be absolutely perfect. Their credo is: “Live will never be the same”.

OK… “Live will never be the same” goes maybe a bit too far, but we have to admit that the sound in this hall is amazingly fantastic. For this reason Toto, the Counting Crows and several other famous bands especially chose this hall for their live DVD recordings.

The Heineken Music Hall has a capacity of maximum 5000 people. This makes this hall perfect for the ‘in-between-concerts’; the concerts which are too small for a stadium and too big for the smaller venues such as Paradiso and the Melkweg.

Although the Heineken Music Hall has fantastic acoustics, that doesn’t make the atmosphere immediately perfect. Actually, the atmosphere sucks. The hall itself is a big, grey/aluminum shoebox which does not make you feel comfortable. Besides that, it is located far outside the center in a depressive part of Amsterdam, and next to the UFO-look-a-like stadium of Ajax (soccerteam).

So if there’s somebody on the list who you really want to see, don’t miss it! It might be the best concert you will ever hear from them. When there’s nothing interesting on the program don’t even bother to think about going here.
