UK has a new Chief drug adviser: Les Iversen

After sacking David Nutt the UK has a new Chief drug adviser: Les Iversen. And he's not that negative towards cannabis either: In an article in 2003, he wrote that cannabis had been "incorrectly" classified as a dangerous drug for nearly 50 years and said it was one of the "safer" recreational drugs. During his career, the professor's focused his research on the effects of drugs on the brain.

Prof. David Nutt is back

Remember Professor David Nutt? He used to be the UK's chief drugs adviser, but got sacked a few months ago. Reason: criticism. He openly disagreed with the decision of the UK government to reclassify cannabis to Class B from C. He also accused ministers of devaluing and distorting evidence and said drugs classification was being politicised. And that's some language the people in charge didn't accept. But damn right he was. And now David is back, stronger then ever.
