Mexico is losing the War on Drugs

Mexico is losing the War on Drugs

Drugs are bad, mmkay? No, they are not. The Drug war is though. In Mexico alone already 28.000 people have died in drug related crimes since 2006. Finally, the president of Mexico is starting to realize he's f*ckin' up his own country. Well, change something! But skip the debate, just legalize.

Poll: "War on Drugs" has been ineffective

Poll: "War on Drugs" has been ineffective

"A large proportion of Americans acknowledge that the country has a serious drug abuse problem, but two thirds believe that the so-called "War on Drugs" has been ineffective, a new Angus Reid Public Opinion poll (pdf-alert) has found..."

More drugs from Mexico to the US

More drugs from Mexico to the US

Mexican drug cartels are the biggest source of illegal drugs, including marijuana, to the US. In the next 3 years the US will spend 1.4 billion dollars in Mexico trying to stop this. That's a lot... But the annual income of the drug cartels is estimated about 40 billion dollars a year. And that's even more... The Mexican president Felipe Calderon has made the War on Drugs his top priority and his solution mainly exists out of guns and tanks. Does it work? Of course not. You don't need to be Einstein to understand these cartels will not give up their huge profits, so Felipe got his war indeed. A direct result is that more and more people are being killed every day and Mexico has simply become a no-go-area because of all this violence. And now there's even more drugs coming into the US and the drug cartels are even becoming more powerful than before! This War on Drugs is completely hopeless. As Einstein already said: “Insanity is continuing to do the same things and expecting different results.”

Retreating from the war on drugs

Retreating from the war on drugs

"Mexico's drug war is becoming more and more brutal. President Felipe Calderón has deployed 45,000 soldiers and federal police in the government's fight against the drug mafia, and 5,000 of them patrol the streets of Ciudad Juarez alone. Despite the government's stepped-up efforts, the death toll continues to rise..."

Latin America rejects old U.S. approach in drugs war

Latin America rejects old U.S. approach in drugs war

"Convinced that the four-decade-old, U.S.-led war on drugs has failed, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and other countries are relaxing penalties for possession and personal use of small amounts of narcotics. The shift away from zero-tolerance policies has picked up pace in the past year and U.S. President Barack Obama's administration has voiced little opposition to the changes..."

US waves white flag in disastrous 'war on drugs'

US waves white flag in disastrous 'war on drugs'

Great article in The Independent today... "After 40 years of defeat and failure, America's "war on drugs" is being buried in the same fashion as it was born – amid bloodshed, confusion, corruption and scandal. US agents are being pulled from South America; Washington is putting its narcotics policy under review, and a newly confident region is no longer prepared to swallow its fatal Prohibition error. Indeed, after the expenditure of billions of dollars and the violent deaths of tens of thousands of people..."

Quote of the Day

"I don't want to fucking give the United States government one fucking dollar of taxes. I think that they should go to fucking jail for getting you and me and 20 million people getting arrested for pot. It is the safest thing you can do in the universe."
